Of Summer rides and Halloween pumpkins

Apparently the gods of weather do want me to ride. Talking about km ridden, after what's probably my less productive season, this October is simply amazing! We are having spring (a warm one) temperatures, with days peaking on the summer side! On the passes over 2000mt I had from 16°C to 20°C yesterday... with blue sky, clean and dry roads...

Simply one of those days that, if you own a motorcycle, you cannot stay home. Period.

And, of course, I enjoyed the day, had some 300km across 4 passes and some great landscape, now offering what's left of summer colors and the bright and new autumn ones, both mixing together, creating something... magic!

I had some quick sectors (of course!) but also enjoyed back roads, far from the main routes. Through those small mountain or forest town, those with a few hundreds -when not tens- inhabitants. Riding there was a full sensory experience: it wasn't just riding itself or the colors and the landscape... it was also the ... scent!

The tantalizing perfume of the grass just cut, probably one of the last cut of grass of the season, mixed with the sexy smell of the earliest chimney, puffing some wood burnt smoke out in the air. The scent of the autumn while the perfume of summer was still there... with the dimming light of this mid October inviting you home, inviting you to think about the winter, to fire up a fireplace, it makes you think of autumn tastes and colors. You simply are invited to think about chestnuts and pumpkins and not corners, twisties and massive rides!

Be it an autumn wanting to get younger or a summer refusing to leave, I enjoyed my 300km. My bike enjoyed too, and the speedometer has always been in the "pretty fucking fun" area :-)

Route:
