A quick one

So... I was damn busy, but couldn't resist... and found out 4 hours for me and her. I wanted to do a quick one, but a serious one, not just the neighbour ride.

That's why the Manghen-San Pellegrino-Valles-Rolle Passes loop, in that order, looked attractive in one of last week August sunny days.

I did these 4 passes in a row many times, both directions, and I can now confirm that clockwise (the above mentioned order)... it is a blast! They are much quicker, funny, the twisties are purely amazing... and when you climb Valles with that white Ducati Multistrada (or similar, seen it on the mirrors only) dude tailgating you, well... the smiles under the black visors were 100% granted... for both :-)

Didn't stop much indeed...a quick one I said, didn't I? Rode 265km in 4hs... which is a good average speed given the twisty roads.

Note to Self: San Pellegrino pass from west to east... the west side... it's pure insanity. It's simply impossible to climb it in a legal form... :-)

È semplicemente impossibile salirlo in forma legale... :-)

A taste of winter in a summer ride

So, my life got more and more complicated, and it's kinda hard to cut time for a ride the way I mean it.
But few days ago, I finally found the time to go for what I call the "trinity", aka Tonale Pass, Stelvio Pass and Gavia Pass.
Weather was fine, still warm even if the overall area got a summer hot temperature decrease. That's what meteo wizards said. But they didn't say what expected me, not at all!

I approach Tonale and the road is great. Despite being a vacation traffic day, I had the luck to find not much traffic (the day later should have been a massacre! Perfect choice of day I did!). Tonale was smooth, as fast as usual and I had a lot of fun.

Break-in Ride

Given the last issue (here), I had to do a complete hydraulic-side clutch job. I took the bike home, thinking to have another ride, putting an end to tires and front disc brakes... but weather hasn't been great, and in the end the peak of the season was approaching, and I decided to go for the full job anyway, including service!

Proud with new front EBC disc brakes, new Michelin Pilot Power 3 tires, and with a fresh periodic service done, I started seeing which day shall be THE ONE. Weather, life issues, and everything else made me almost skipping it... until at 2:30pm I decide to say fuck off to any issue and hop on the saddle.

It was late to break in all that stuff on the Trinity (that's Tonale-Gavia-Stelvio passes), and weather wasn't attractive on the eastern side, so I tried a more "central" area... changing the route as I rode, and in the end clocking up 346km across 7 passes, in 6 hours breaks included (just to take few pics).

I wanted to to the 4 set, that's Rolle, Valles, San Pellegrino and Manghen.
But I did Croce d'Aune before Rolle, and after San Pellegrino I headed to Marmolada and did the Fedaia, from west to east... and continue accordingly :-)

So here the list:

Today's mood... :-)

So, on a recent ride, after an unusual (for me) motorway stretch (180+ km/h), when I stopped I felt a strange feeling on the clutch lever. The truth is that I should have understood the thing was coming, as it was a while I had issues putting the bike into neutral... kinda like the clutch wasn't disengaging properly. After I stopped, to manage a minimum clutch work to start from standing still, or to downshift, I had to pump with the lever and be pretty quick (the pressure was releasing quickly). The hydraulic system was gone and the color of the Dot4 on the reservoir tank window had a pretty nasty color, not healthy at all.

To make it short, I rode it home anyway (Once I also drove home the car, with a clutch failure, and I was trailing a mate's bike... I got my skills :-) )... and today I received all the parts to sort the issue out and be back riding...

There you go...

Eccoli...

Season!

Season is open. Well, it was better a couple of weeks ago, now it's even colder. But it's May. And May is full spring, despite any temperature. I am about to face a very different riding season. Alone. No meetings up there in the mountains with anybody. I don't foresee race track either. So I will simply wake up every morning and decide whether that's a good day to ride. Without any set destination... not even a route plan like I always had. I simply will let the road to unroll under the wheels, and they will take me somewhere, anywhere, wherever, any distance.

Just to get things going, on May 1st all of a sudden I found myself with some free time. And off I went. Just to passes, some 200km, some winding roads, some very narrow... and an annoying rain for the whole second half of the ride.

I enjoyed the mighty Passo San Boldo, and then left myself around the epic Cansiglio, with all its magic and power.

As always, some pictures...

Come sempre, alcune foto...

First post (of this year)

Life ain't easy. It's rather a bitch.
But, hey, the mighty RF is always there, ready for a blast! And this early spring weather helped out in throwing all the issues at my back and spend few hours, both on Saturday and Sunday, with my trusty babe.
And, I tell you, from the way she screamed and how she was pushing, refusing to keep the front wheel down, hey, she loved it as much as I did!

Here few random shots of this romantic weekend!
