BORING DAY IN OFFICE / NOIOSA GIORNATA IN UFFICIO

Another of our midway meetings.

Let's set for Grossglockner! We said.
Deal! We shouted.
All set! We confirmed.
But this was just the beginning of the week. It was raining already.
Meeting was set on Friday.
And on Thursday eve the temperatures around Grossglockner area reported barely 1°C above zero. It means it could have snowed too!
So the idea became to go west, at least western than Grossglockner, with a forecast that could have been better.
We both left very late from our respective places (past 10am). Meeting point was roughly set to be between Meran and Passo Giovo.
That doesn't mean we take it easy or shorter and in my case this meant:

-Passo Manghen
-the road connecting north of Manghen to South of Mendola which is a blast
-Passo Mendola (quite fast)
-Passo Palade (a blast)

We finally met on south side of Passo Giovo, where we even took the time for a lunch. Meeting was crossing on the road, waving mid fingers to each other, as we use to do. It's a ritual.

After pitstop, aehm, after food, pointing both to my place -meaning we wouldn't have split- we decided to have some fun, so we continued on:

Passo Giovo all the way up
Passo Pennes (all the way down)
Skipped Bozen and took via Vanga and Auna di Sopra (great road, superb landscape!)
Passo Nigra
Passo Lavazé (one of my racetracks!)
and Passo Mangen again, opposite direction.

For me it was some 8 passes that counted 551km.
Regular business? A normal boring day in office? Kind of... but this time it was quite different.

First of all we where riding together for quite half the ride. And that restored our old feeling, that mind-to-mind communication where we fit, we simply ride together as one. That is a feeling we developed during the years, but that we glorified in 2009 when we had the epic Culo di Titanio. I was in that brain mode. Nothing cared anymore, just throttle, gear, brake, downshift, turn in, lean over and throttle again. Pure focus. Pure riding.
Somebody even noticed it: on Pass Lavazé (that we took north to south) an MV Augsta took place between us and enjoyed following me... and I tell you, I did that pass damn fast as it's one of the fastest and there was almost no traffic. The guy stopped on top by me and congratulated with me for the fun!

We got some rain down Manghen, but nothing serious. All the rest was sunny, a wonderful day! Almost 12 hours on the saddle, minus about one we stopped for food.

Indeed: a boring day in office.

BONUS TRACK.
This ride celebrated also the renewal of my bike. New bike! Yes! Basically this was the break-in ride!
Or sort of...

-Passo Mendola (molto veloce)

Passo Giovo, verso nord
Passo Pennes, verso sud

Roba normale?
