The bikes

The mighty bikes that we will blast on this adventure are:
  • Me: 1995 Suzuki RF900RS2
  • My buddy: 2006 Suzuki GSXR1000

Translation

Got few mails of people asking what the hell "Culo di Titanio" means.

This is Italian for:
CULO = ASS
TITANIO = guess it, probably your conrods, or exhaust muffler are made of this sweet stuff

Everything came from CULO DI FERRO (=IRON ASS) which was a ride we did 5 years ago, 600km across 18 passes. Since we're improving, I needed something sounding noble compared to iron.
That's it.

Don't know how our arses will look like after this, surely they will not feel any good ;)

Equipment

A couple of words about the equipment we're going to carry.
Personally I'll use a seat bag, placed on passenger seat. NO TANK BAGS. I hate them. I need handling and control, this is not a highway ride. On the tank I'll have a magnetic map reader, nothing more.
On the seat bag I'll carry:
  • 3 liter of water
  • 2 cans of Redbull/Coke/Whatever
  • 2-3 sandwiches
  • few snaks
  • rain gear
  • spare visor (so I can have both transparent and dark visor)
  • spare gloves set (alpinestars)
On the map reader there's also a little pocket for
  • Cellphone
  • Camera (if it fits, otherwise it goes on saddle bag)
Myself:
  • Shoei helmet
  • My full leathers, Dainese
  • Lighter gloves (alpinestars), vented, for the comfort. To be switched to the others if needed
  • Boots (alpinestars)
  • Sleeveless light jacket, with pockets for wallet, cards... whatever.
  • Knee sliders :-)

The route

This is going to be the table we will follow during the ride. This is exactely what we will print out and stick to our magnetic tank map holders.

Phone posts crap

I am sorry that the phone posts come with all that stuff attached. Nevermind ;)

So everything is up & running.

Before the ride I'll post the complete route map.

Otherwise, see you on August 25th.

Stay tuned!

The idea

So, I set up this BLOG for a simple thing:
Letting people following US on a RIDE.

What ride?
over 1000km in one day, from morning to evening.
Across 26 passes, in the Dolomitis/Alps. Touching 3 countries.

On 2 Suzuki sport bikes.

The idea is to send TEXT to the blog and letting people see where we are every single hour of that day.

THE DAY IS 25th AUGUST 2008.

Follow us! :)
