A taste of winter in a summer ride

So, my life got more and more complicated, and it's kinda hard to cut time for a ride the way I mean it. But few days ago, I finally found the time to go for what I call the "trinity", aka Tonale Pass, Stelvio Pass and Gavia Pass. Weather was fine, still warm even if the overall area got a summer hot temperature decrease. That's what meteo wizards said. But they didn't say what expected me, not at all! I approach Tonale and the road is great. Despite being a vacation traffic day, I had the luck to find not much traffic (the day later should have been a massacre! Perfect choice of day I did!). Tonale was smooth, as fast as usual and I had a lot of fun.

Insomma la vita mi si è incasinata ed è sempre più difficile trovare il tempo per un giro in moto come intendo io. Ma qualche giorno fa, finalmente, sono riuscito a farmi il giro che io chiamo "la trinità", ovvero i passi Tonale, Stelvio e Gavia. Il tempo era ok, ancora caldo nonostante i geni del meteo avessero previsto un abbassamento delle temperature. Ma non hanno detto quello che mi sarebbe toccato... non di certo Arrivo al Tonale, e la strada è fantastica. Nonostante fosse un giorno di esodo verso le località di villeggiatura, non ho trovato poi tanto traffico (il giorno dopo sarebbe stato un massacro! Ho scelto la giornata giusta!). Il Tonale è stato liscio, veloce come sempre e mi sono divertito.

Gavia is as beautiful as always. The road is hard. Somebody said they did a new tarmac, but I cannot confirm it... ma that's how Gavia shall be. Steep, hard, narrow, bumpy and for true lovers. Including the two 50cc Piaggio Vespa I found on the top, at 2600mt!!! Here some Gavia:

Il Gavia è stupendo come sempre. Strada difficile. Qualcuno ha detto che c'era asfalto nuovo, cosa che non confermo... ma è così che il Gavia deve essere. Ripido, difficile, stretto, sconnesso e per veri fedeli. Comprese le 2 Vespe 50cc arrivate, non so come, fino in cima a 2600 metri!! Un po' di Gavia:

So I approached Stelvio. Going up hill I felt like I was changing hemisphere, changing season... and on the top I found FRESH SNOW, recently fallen. It's was damn cold (I had no winter gear!!)... but I couldn't remove that smile from my face! I never had Stelvio like this, and I tell you, I've been there dozen times! After stelvio I continued and added two more passes, that's Palade and Mendola... where I found warmer climate and twisty fun roads! Total: 5 passes and 565km! Enjoy a snowy Stelvio in the mid of August...

Quindi mi avvicino allo Stelvio. In salita sembrava quasi stessi cambiando emisfero, cambiando stagione... e in cima ho trovato NEVE FRESCA, caduta da poco. Faceva molto freddo (non avevo abbigliamento invernale!!!)... ma non potevo togliermi quel sorriso dalla faccia! Non avevo mai visto lo Stelvio così.. e ci sono stato MOLTE VOLTE! Dopo lo Stelvio ho continuato aggiungendo due passi... il Palade ed il Mendola... dove ho trovato un clima più mite e delle strade veloci! Totale 5 passi e 565km!
