So. I got a new bike!
Well, not strictly 'new', just a new add to my garage.
I've always been in love with Benelli, probably the first bike I tested, it was my dad's one (a 500/Quattro).
So, few months ago I was at the workshop, when I saw this I decided I wanted it!
We needed few month to get it back to a proper working order: there was a lot to do, like cleaning & refurbishing the carb, replace a way too old gear box oil, finding out some parts like a decent tank, or restoring the saddle completely... and recently, after a wonderful vintage cars & bikes exhibition, I finally put my hands on the few parts I was needing... and today it came home!
Few aesthetic details are left to be done, but the bike runs great... and smokes like a steam locomotive... like ANY two strokes SHOULD!
Doing all the papers to take it back on the road, and listing it on some brand historical register is next... so this young 55 years old bike will be back on the roads!
It is so fun to score parts, find people doing things (such like the saddle rebuild). This bike turned out to be fun even before firing it up! |
Ho una nuova moto!
Beh, non esattamente 'nuova', ma sicuramente una nuova aggiunta al mio garage.
Ho sempre amato le Benelli, probabilmente fu la prima moto che guidai, quella di mio padre (una 500/Quattro).
Così, qualche mese fa ero in officina (STRD Moto, Casoni di Mussolente) quando ho visto questo esemplare, decidendo immediatamente che doveva essere mia!
Ci sono voluti alcuni mesi per metterla in ordine: c'era del lavoro da fare, come pulire e ripristinare il carburatore, cambiare un olio del cambio troppo vecchio, trovare alcuni pezzi come un serbatoio decente, or restaurare la sella completamente e, recentemente, dopo una visita alla fiera Auto Moto d'Epoca di Bologna, ho finalmente messo le mani sulle ultime cose che mi mancavano... portandola a casa oggi!
Manca qualche dettaglio estetico, ma la moto va molto bene... fumando come una vecchia locomotiva... cosa che un due tempi DEVE fare!
Ora devo fare tutte le carte per riportarla su strada, oltre che iscriverla al Registro Storico del marchio... così questa ragazza di 55 anni tornerà fieramente per strada!
È divertente cercare i pezzi, trovare la gente che fa i lavori (come quello che mi ha rifatto la sella). Questa moto si è rivelata divertente ancora prima di metterla in moto! |
