| Finally, yesterday, I managed to spend my Sunday in my own workshop. Bike is almost complete now. Ok, it still looks into pieces, but really now it's a matter of an hour to get it going. What I did yesterday was long and needed myself to have free time, and free mind. First I had to clean all the greasy parts. And believe me that was a hell of a job. Then I reinstalled the rear damper, after I had it refurbished; I tend to do this every few years. Once this was done, I had to adapt the rear fender elimination kit to my bike. I didn't like the way it wanted to be fit (eliminating the sight of the coolant reservoir tank and forcing to have those strings attachment pins cut away), so I had to grind it down to the size I wanted. Hence I modified the license plate mounting which holds turn signals as well. I installed the lovely new blue wheels, including calipers and everything. Ofcourse I had cleaned the chain and lubed all the 5 brand new bearings. All dust seals on wheels are new as well. Front and rear mudguards are on as well. I wired the plug for cellphone/GPS 'cigarette lighter' type sock. Given the kind of trip I do, and given the power of modern smart-phones (and their thirst for those electrons), I just couldn't live w/o a power sock on this bike. I wired it inside the glove box, so it stays protected and, mostly, doesn't fly around. So now I just need to finish off few little stuff and simply install the fairings and officially open the season. For this 2010 season we got some GREAT rides in mind. Just stay tuned to see what's coming up. | Finalmente, ieri, sono riuscito a passare la giornata in garage. La moto è completa ormai. Si, lo so, sembra ancora a pezzi, ma in un'oretta di lavoro sarà pronta! Ieri mi sono dedicato a quelle cose che richiedevano del tempo libero ed un po' di relax e pace. Prima di tutto ho ripulito tutte le cose sporche di grasso (catena, forcellone, ecc ecc). Un lavoraccio. Una volta creato un ambiente igenico :-) ho reinstallato il mono, il quale è stato appena rigenerato (tendo a farlo rigenerare ogni tot anni). Poi ho adattato il kit per l'eliminazione del parafango dietro. Siccome il kit prevedeva il taglio dei cazzetti per agganciare elastici e cinghie, non chè la chiusura dello spazio che permette l'ispezione del serbatoietto del liquido di raffreddamento, ho deciso di darci di flessibile e creare la forma che più fa al caso mio. Questo lavoro include il montaggio del supporto targa che include anche l'attacco per le frecce posteriori. Ho montato le bellissime ruote blu, dopo averne cambiato tutti i cuscinetti e parapolvere. Installati pure i parafanghetti... tra l'altro l'anteriore mostra finalmente il nuovo colore della moto :-) Infine ho cablato la presa dell'accendisigari per il telefono o il gps. Per il tipo di giri che faccio ormai non posso più permettermi di stare senza batterie, e questi aggeggi consumano un bel po'. Ho messo il connettore dentro il vano "per i guanti", così è al riparo e non sventola in giro. Ora mancano solo piccoli dettagli e finalmente posso rimettere le carene e aprire ufficialmente la stagione. Per il 2010 abbiamo grandi giri in programma. Ed il Culo di Titanio sarà glorioso. |
