Spare parts you cannot find anywhere

This story started over a year ago. I needed needle jets (aka emulsion tubes) for a full RF900's carbs rebuild. Parts for the Mikuni BDST36SS, part 09494-00810-0000—and they’re basically unobtainable now. From the RF forum I came to know that an US seller had them: Factory Pro. Ordered, paid, shipped… the parcel reached Italian Customs—and it’s been stuck there for over a year. Calls, emails, everything. No answers. The tracking just says “waiting to be processed.” So I rode through 2025 without rebuilding the carbs. Fast forward to early 2026: I searched again... CMS had a set back in stock! And they arrived a few days ago. In the meantime (2025) I’d hunted down two new ones on eBay (I need four) plus four used ones… but now I finally have a brand-new complete set, still in original Suzuki bags. YES! Now the carbs can be rebuilt—properly. And who knows… maybe Customs will eventually wake up and release that first set too. Probably the last one on Earth. There’s another nice story. This one is about my ’68 Benelli 49 America. On the swingarm there’s a mounting pin designed to hold a small tire pump—just like the ones used on bicycles. The bike earned a gold plate for its historical value. I keep it running well and in top condition… so of course I had to find the correct pump, right? While walking around swap meets and exhibitions hunting for parts (read it here), I finally found someone who could supply the exact pump. I bought it—and just like that, the project was completed the right way. Below are all the photos documenting these fantastic adventures! :-)

Questa storia è iniziata più di un anno fa. Mi servivano i polverizzatori per una rigenerazione completa dei carburatori della RF900. Pezzi per i Mikuni BDST36SS, codice 09494-00810-0000 — praticamente introvabili ormai. Dall'RF forum salta fuori che un venditore negli USA li aveva: Factory Pro. Ordino, pago, spediscono… il pacco arriva alla Dogana italiana — e lì rimane. Bloccato da oltre un anno. Telefonate, email, solleciti. Nessuna risposta. Il tracking dice solo “in attesa di essere processato”. Così mi sono fatto tutta la stagione 2025 senza rifare i carburatori. Arriviamo a inizio 2026: riprovo a cercare... CMS li aveva di nuovo disponibili! Ordinati. Arrivati pochi giorni fa. Nel frattempo, nel 2025, avevo recuperato due nuovi su eBay (me ne servono quattro) e quattro usati… ma ora finalmente ho un set completo nuovo, ancora nelle buste originali Suzuki. YEAH! Adesso i carburatori si possono ricostruire, per bene, come si deve. E chissà… magari la Dogana prima o poi si sveglia e libera anche il primo set. Probabilmente l’ultimo rimasto sul pianeta. C’è anche un’altra bella storia. Riguarda la mia Benelli 49 America del ’68. Sul forcellone ci sono quei perni di fissaggio pensati per ospitare la classica pompetta per gonfiare le gomme… proprio come quelle da biciletta. La moto ha la targa oro FMI per il suo valore storico, la tengo sempre in perfetta forma… quindi quella pompa mi serviva davvero, no? Così, girando per fiere e mostre a caccia di dettagli e ricambi (qui il racconto), ho trovato finalmente chi la fornisce. L’ho comprata… e ho chiuso il progetto nel modo migliore.
