The beauty of Monte Grappa

Lately, I’ve been in a frame of mind that’s particularly attuned to the beauty of places. I explore them on foot, by MTB and, of course, on my bike. It becomes impossible to ignore the beauty of nature; it foces me to stop, break the pace and take some photos. I took these photos on ‘my’ Monte Grappa. Do enjoy them.

Ultimamemente sono in uno stato mentale sensibile alla bellezza dei luoghi. Li percorro a piedi, in bici e, ovviamente in moto. Diventa impossibile ignorare la bellezza della natura, diventa uno stimolo fermarsi, rompere il ritmo, e scattare delle foto. Queste foto le ho scattate sul 'mio' Monte Grappa. Godetevele.

Running away from the rain, across 7 passes

Weather is nice, but being so close to the mountains, a shower —or better yet, a thunderstorm— is always just around the corner. So I ended up riding 300 km... trying to outrun the rain. It literally followed me. I got caught in a shower on Aune Pass, but nothing serious. The next six passes (Rolle, Valles, San Pellegrino, Costalunga, Lavazé & Manghen) were dry on dry roads! What a blast! At home? Puddles everywhere! I’ve won! And the day after, on a leisurely ride to Monte Grappa, I set off in almost pouring rain... but I got lucky: dry roads and plenty of fun! Il tempo è bello, ma essendo così vicini alle montagne, un po’ di pioggia — o meglio ancora, un temporale — è sempre dietro l’angolo. Così ho finito per percorrere 300 km… cercando di sfuggire alla pioggia. Mi ha letteralmente seguito. Sono stato sorpreso da un acquazzone sul Passo di Aune, ma niente di grave. I sei passi successivi (Rolle, Valles, San Pellegrino, Costalunga, Lavazé e Manghen) sono stati tutti asciutti, su strade asciutte! Che figata! A casa? Pozzanghere ovunque! Ho vinto io! E il giorno dopo, durante una tranquilla pedalata verso il Monte Grappa, sono partito sotto una pioggia quasi torrenziale... ma sono stato fortunato: strade asciutte e tanto divertimento! Still rockin', still rollin'

The bike is back home. The bike is back in working order! Gear selector lever? Replaced. The new one works way better! The starting problem? Well, it wasn't really a problem. At least, not with the bike... It had simply run onto reserve, and I, exhausted, had probably turned the fuel tap a little too late. Then again, still me—completely worn out—must have given up: dehydrated, drained, and probably already convinced that the only solution was to call a mechanic. Which, of course, made absolutely no sense. If I'd just waited a few more minutes, the bike would have started and taken me home! In fact, it fired up immediately on Monday when I went back to check on it, and again the following day when I rode it home. All's well that ends well? HELL YES!

La moto è a casa. E funziona! La leva del selettore del cambio? Sostiuita! La nuova va molto meglio! Il problema della messa in moto? Beh, non era un problema. Almeno, non della moto... Era semplicemente entrata in riserva e io, stanco, probabilmente avevo aperto il rubinetto un po' troppo tardi. Poi, sempre io, stanchissimo, devo essermi arreso: disidratato, sfinito e forse già convinto che l'unica soluzione fosse chiamare l'officina. Una soluzione che, ovviamente, non aveva alcun senso. Se solo avessi aspettato qualche minuto, la moto si sarebbe accesa e mi avrebbe riportato a casa! Infatti si è accesa immediatamente il lunedì, quando sono tornato a controllarla, e di nuovo il giorno dopo, quando l'ho riportata a casa. Tutto è bene quel che finisce bene? CAZZO SÌ!
